Reiki Session Skills
Reiki session skills are the craft behind supportive treatments. I teach you how to welcome someone well, listen without rushing, and set a clear shared intention. We plan a session that is spacious but structured: opening, first sequence, transition, second sequence, closing, and aftercare. You learn to adapt placements to posture and mobility, to use cushions and chairs wisely, and to time each hold by what the body is actually showing—breath slowing, shoulders dropping, or the subtle wave of relaxation across the face. We practise consultation in plain English: a brief history, what support is desired, and any boundaries for touch. Documentation is kept simple and respectful, protecting privacy while allowing you to track change over several appointments. You learn common sequences for head tension, jaw release, upper-back fatigue, and digestive ease. We explore seated work for office contexts, brief chair sessions for community settings, and clear language for consent in informal situations at home or work. The aim is practicality—repeatable steps that support the nervous system safely. Ethics remain foundational. You learn when to pause, when to signpost to another professional, and how to communicate limits with honesty and kindness. Distance methods are taught with preparation, time keeping and aftercare so support remains gentle and grounded. We practise a tidy close—clearing, thanking, and resettling—so both giver and receiver leave balanced rather than foggy. Your confidence grows not from performing but from consistent, quiet competence. By the end you will hold a session the way a good host holds a room: attentive, relaxed and trustworthy. People feel seen, safe, and able to rest. That is the measure of skill. Practice deepens through consistency rather than intensity. Keep sessions simple, respectful, and well-closed. FAQ
Do I need any experience before starting?
No. Level 1 is beginner-friendly. You only need curiosity and an open mind. Prior meditation or yoga can help, but it isn’t required.
How long does a Reiki course take?
Most Level 1 and Level 2 courses run over one weekend (two days) with practice time. Some providers add follow-up mentoring or a 21-day integration practice after attunement.
What is a Reiki attunement?
An attunement is a guided energetic initiation by the teacher that “tunes” you to Reiki. Students often feel warmth, tingling, calm, or emotional release. Effects can be subtle or profound.
